Mother Mary Weeps for Our Microchips

In many lives around the world, technology has replaced the role of religion in terms of finding meaning and a set of guidelines to live by.

While many of us have a noble set of ethics, our phones and computers flatten these ambitions when we think of the mining of precious metals that make their core, which oftentimes involve child labour for materials like cobalt, to the well-documented factory conditions which assemble them.

And when searching for peace and quiet, you will no doubt have the pang of curiosity about what someone is saying on social or the availability of this or that product.

Making this piece is not a way of suggesting that I am above it all in any way, but more of a tribute to this montage of good and bad influences.
